Review: Quassy Amusement Park 2015

By Sabrina Condon, Macaroni Kid Brewster-Mahopac-Carmel July 2, 2015

We were so excited to return to Quassy this past weekend.  Every time we go, I am reminded how much I wished we’d gone sooner.  The park is so perfect for any size family.  Its compact size, affordability, and close proximity all make it a “must go” for summer time.  In 35 minutes I was parked and walking a few steps into the stroller friendly park. I'm very blessed that Quassy enjoys working with Macaroni Kid, and we are able to bring you the giveaways each week.

My children are now 6, 4, and almost 2yo.  Every child has plenty of kiddie rides to go on, and the 6yo is just barely tall enough for some of the larger rides. He was so excited to hit the ‘big’ bumper cars this year.  Every year he’d excitedly run over to the measuring stick, and THIS year he made it!  I had to accompany him, and what a shocking looking into my future 10 years from now.  I think Jim will be handling all driving lessons at that time.

This year they’ve added KIDDIE BUMPER CARS, though!  Once my kids found that, they must have been at it for an hour.  Rode them, ran around, rode them again, and again, and again, again.  It was fantastic, especially since it was a little rainy and the bumper cars were under a roof.

Before that the kids were going onto the kiddie rollercoaster.  Since I had to get home with Siobhan, we didn’t have time for the wooden roller coaster this year, but they were psyched for the kiddie one anyway.  A note for readers with younger children.  If your child is 4 or under, I would suggest going onto the kiddie rollercoaster with them, in the same seat, and with your arm around the back of their head.  The coaster is a bit jerky, and I noticed my oldest finally had a good command of his head and neck strength last year to not need a parent.  My 4yo, though, still needs another year to gain that strength.

As I mentioned, there’s plenty for even Siobhan to go on.  She road on the boats, the helicopter, the trucks, and I can’t even remember them all.  She even road the kiddie big shot (you know where they put you up high, drop you, repeat).  Her smile and laugh were awesome.  This will definitely be a favorite memory of mine with that smile.

Now I’ve spoken a lot about the kiddie rides, but there are PLENTY of rides for big kids, too. The new FRANTIC ride is amazing (we’ve posted articles, which I’m sure you’ve seen).  The waterpark has loads of great entertainment, plus MORE coming next year, and this park is really, really great for the entire family.  There were plenty of teens and tweens running around that park and having a great time.

You can find out more at www.Quassy.com, including tickets prices and parking information.  There are frequently deals, such as car load night Fridays where the entire car load gets into the park for a great, flat rate.  The best part, if you’re a parent that doesn’t like the rides, you can walk around with your children without having to pay for an entrance pass.  Plus you can bring your own food into the park if you’re on a tight budget.  The food at the park is general amusement park type foods.  I was pleased to see more apples juices, etc. for the kids this year. My husband bought the chicken ceaser salad and wouldn’t you know my 6yo stole it and ate it!  I’m taking bragging rights where I can here, moms.

If you’re a long time reader of Macaroni Kid, you know I highly recommend Quassy.  Grab the kids and enjoy a great day out.  If the park has to close due to weather, you’ll receive free passes for another day.  It’s so worth risking the unknown weather days.  Go and enjoy!

I did receive passes from Quassy for this review, but ALL opinions and thoughts are ENTIRELY my own.  I'd love this place no matter what!!!
