This Week's Welcome

August 4, 2015

A Class Builders has continued the work on the house.  The kids were excited to see some of the tractors in action after our Cape Trip.

After a short stop in NY, we visited my folks down in NC.  As you may recall, my father is undergoing treatment for lung cancer with mets to the spine.  He recently started with immunotherapy, which is a cutting edge treatment option exploding with success in the cancer treatment arena. Some people don't feel any side effect at all (unfortunately my father didn't fall into that category).  Sloane in NYC I've heard is one of the leading treatment facilities offering this via trials and mainstream treatment, and we are lucky to have access to such a world-class facility.

My SIL had flown to MD Anderson in TX for her immunotherapy treatment last year.  She's since stopped that treatment and started with another experimental medication offered up at MGH in Boston.  MGH is where I received part of my treatment (along with Dana Farber), and again I feel blessed that these facilities are within our community reach should we need it.

Of course I hope that all my readers don't need any specialized medical care!  So here is to a safe and fun remainder of your summer!
Have a great week in Putnam County!

Small Print: We do our best to have up-do-date and accurate information.  However, we highly recommend you contact the venue prior to departure to ensure the event is happening as originally scheduled.  In addition, follow us on Facebook for last-minute information.

Note: EVERY library is open to ANYone, not just the town residents.  Only one or two libraries give residents first shot before opening to everyone else.  If any of the library programs requiring registration are full, be sure to utilize their waiting list.  Openings pop up frequently, so enjoy those great programs with your children when you can!
