This Week's Welcome

November 24, 2015

Nana is HERE!  Yay!  The kids (and I) are so excited to have my mom here visiting for a few weeks.  We have loads of activities planned, and she should sleep well when she returns home :).

This weekend we saw Cirque at the Eisenhower Theater at West Point.  If you haven't been to this particular theater, you're in for an adventure.  For future visits you may make there, I'll pass along what I learned, which includes planning to get there 2 1/2 hours - 3 hours early at least:

The GPS brought us to the military only entrance, so be sure to follow the website directions instead!  The correct gate found us in a long car line where they checked your ID and car.  Parking was difficult to find, but we followed all the other cars, parked in what felt like Timbuktu, where we saw a school bus to drive us up.  The minimal elevators caused a long line, but we found the stairs behind an unmarked door at the entrance to sneak up to the second floor to eat at the cafe.  The show itself was great, and my GPS snuck us out the military only entrance (they allowed us out, just not in), so we were home in no time.

My kitchen sadly will not be done in time for Thanksgiving (catering order from Boston Market, here we come!).  We changed counter people due to some headaches, so that will be in after Thanksgiving.  A Class Builders is currently working hard on the interior trim and doors.  The exterior siding is done, the floors are sanded and have two coats, the walls have been primed, and it's all just coming together beautifully.

Today I can't wait to see my super-talented friend, Jody Myers, from Color Concept Theory who will be helping me to pick out paint colors.  Her designs are in loads of fancy magazine.  I can't afford to hire her for the entire design (though I'd LOVE it) but having her help with a few colors is still exciting!

Have a safe week in Putnam County!

Small Print: We do our best to have up-do-date and accurate information.  However, we highly recommend you contact the venue prior to departure to ensure the event is happening as originally scheduled.  In addition, follow us on Facebook for last-minute information.

Note: EVERY library is open to ANYone, not just the town residents.  Only one or two libraries give residents first shot before opening to everyone else.  If any of the library programs requiring registration are full, be sure to utilize their waiting list.  Openings pop up frequently, so enjoy those great programs with your children when you can!
