Patterson Library Battle of the Books Success

Patterson Library’s team, “Barely Controlled Chaos,” finished fifth out of twenty-five libraries competing in the 8th annualBattleof the Books, held on September 8, 2012 atArlingtonHigh Schoolin Lagrangeville.  Kids from all over the Mid-Hudson Library System’s five counties read the same eight books over the summer then worked hard preparing for the game, a fast-paced trivia quiz with buzzer system , based on the books read.  Kids entering grades 6-9 can participate and Patterson will begin building next year’s team in the early spring.  Studies have shown that kids who read over the summer significantly improve their reading skills, andBattleof the Books makes it a lot more fun.
