This Week's Welcome

December 16, 2014

Health - don't even ask.

Hygiene - apparently there have been a couple cases of lice at one of my boy's schools.  Children only get colds more often than lice.  Before the start of the school year another mom warned me about lice frequency in the schools. She recommended some all-natural lice prevention products. Given the outbreak at the school, I thought I would pass along some information to you.

I personally spray the boys EVERY day with the spray-in conditioner, plus use the hairspray on Sean. To help with dry hair, I also put in organics coconut oil (available on amazon.com) which apparently and previously unbeknownst to me, suffocates lice.  So score on some lucky mama points here.

Fairy Tails is one product that we use.  It is available at amazon.com or at Cosmopolitan Hair Salon in Brewster.  I have heard rumors that CVS carries it, but I have not personally confirmed it.

Lice Logic is another product that we use.  It is also available on amazon.com.  I contacted the company directly today, and they are sending me sample to distribute to the parents in the class. They also offered a 20% off code, if you're interested.  Go to www.logicproducts.com and use the code LOGIC20 for 20% off.

The moms impacted by this have visited "The Lice Lady" in Westchester. They highly recommend the service for checks and nit/louse removal.  I haven't personally used her but am passing along the recommendation should you be interested.

You should be checking your children weekly, and there's a great video HERE from another local 'lice lady' on how to perform home checks.

Meanwhile, I'm working to keep my kids healthy for Christmas and am in the market to purchase self containing bubbles for them. Any recommendations are kindly appreciated. Have a safe, healthy, and lice-free week in Putnam County.
