Review: Disney Live! Three Classic Fair Tales

At Westchester County Center and surrounding citties

March 24, 2015

Last night my family was invited to see Disney Live! Three Classic Fairy Tales at the Westchester County Theater.  This is perhaps my most favorite Disney Live! show yet.  The boys stared at the stage the ENTIRE time and didn’t squirm once.  Quite frankly I’m wondering if they even blinked.  I’m not kidding you when I say the cotton candy guy was standing 2 feet away from us, and my cotton candy connoisseurs didn’t even notice! These were some seriously engrossed children I had here.

This show has everyone’s favorite, Mickey and Minnie, walking through three different fairy tale story lines.  Disney Live! condenses three all-time favorite shows of Snow White, Cinderella, and Beauty and the Beast.  The favorite songs are all included (slightly shortened, I think, to keep the show moving quickly) and even if you’re children are unfamiliar with these stories, they will easily follow along.

The costumes and stage props are all typical Disney high-quality.  The actors are all easily heard as they’re lip syncing to the character voices going over the speakers.  This ensure the children’s attention is all kept throughout the show. I’ve included clips of the show from my iPhone (I know, I need to upgrade to a better quality iPhone) on the following Facebook pages:

Hopewell

Poughkeepsie

The Snow White story-line does have some loud thunder and lightning parts, so be prepared if your child is noise sensitive.  That being said, my noise sensitive child didn’t flinch, but my non-noise sensitive child was covering his ears….go figure.  There is also some lightning parts during the end of the Beauty and the Beast portion, but I noticed most children didn’t in the venue didn’t appear bothered.

The Westchester County Center is a close trot down the highway.  I personally park in the center lot between the highway and main road, directly across the street from the steps.  I personally find that closer and easier to get into and out of after the show.  That being said, I have not tried parking in the large lot near the railroad tracks, and I have heard from several moms that it’s easy to access the highway afterwards from there.

The Center I ALWAYS find clean and the staff kind and helpful.  The bathrooms are clean as are the food places.  If you spill your drink, a staff member will zip over and mop it up right quick for you.  They’re all very efficient, and again, kind.  Food is the typical “Fairgrounds Food” of hotdogs and fries, but they’re NATHAN’S fries, so you can’t go wrong with that.  The Center also has several booths to purchase souvenirs and a special booth to take pictures with (cardboard cutout) Cinderella.

I definitely recommend attending this show!  It is at the County Center through the remainder of the weekend.  Please click here for details on dates, times, and other locations for the show. (Note: IZOD Center performances are no longer available)
