Edward Ryan Memorial Park Playground
The playground at Edward Ryan Memorial Park, located at 43 Park Road in Kent, NY (just off of Towners Road), is a great place to take the kids to release some energy. It has been recently renovated (within the last year or so) with all new playground equipment and mulch. The layout of the playground is relatively compact, so you can sit and relax on one of several benches to watch your children play while keeping them in sight. Both the younger kids and older kids will have somewhere to play, as in addition to a couple of swing sets, there is one playground structure geared toward children under 5 and one larger one that is recommended for kids 5 and above. Both structures have a couple of different slides and interactive fun stations and the larger structure also has different things to climb on and over and up and down.
Adjacent to the playground area is a large, covered pavilion with picnic tables and barbecue pits – a great place to bring a picnic lunch or even host a birthday party. Behind the pavilion, there is a foot bridge that crosses a small brook that brings you to a short walking and fitness trail that has several different exercise stations set up for you to stop and work out at along the way if you so desire.
Edward Ryan Memorial Park also has several baseball fields, tennis courts, basketball courts and a sand volleyball court. And, of course, there are restrooms located near the playground for when nature calls.
