Castle Park at 140 Pumphouse Road, Brewster, NY is open all year 9am to sunset. It is located in a wooded area near Lake Tonetta Town Beach, a baseball field, a tennis court and a picnic area. It has 2 different styled playgrounds that is perfect

for families that have children at various ages. This is ideal for me when I am watching my older niece (10) & nephew (8) as they do not always want to play on the same  equipment as my almost 4 year old and 2 year old.

The front playground is fenced in with a space to enter and exit. This space is a little larger then I would prefer and has no locking door but it does not stop me from taking my children

there. This is a great playground for smaller children. There are slides, swings, a firetruck for imaginative play and more. All the equipment is spaced out nicely so it keeps you and your children moving. The back playground is built out of mostly wood and looks like a castle with a forest background. Pretty impressive!

Most of the "castle" playground equipment is connected to each other with the ground is covered in wood chips. It is fenced in with a space to enter & exit. There are towers to climb, bridges to walk across and slides to take you back to the ground level. If your child is feeling imaginative they can hop into the boat and pretend they are circling their castle. You will also find moving floors, monkey bars, a tire swing and so much more. This is a fun place for children of most ages however it may not be ideal for new walkers as there is a lot to see/do and they can easily trip. The two playground are next to each other but not connected. You must exit one

playground and walk to enter the other.

When entering each playground there is a tick warning posted. It recommends taking normal tick precautions before and after being outdoors as ticks in this area could cause Lyme Disease and other tick-borne diseases. Given that these playgrounds are surrounded by a wooded area I feel this is a reasonable precaution to take. I have notice a lot of spider webs on the castle equipment but with the close proximity to the woods they are not out of place but something we parents should be aware of.

On my last visit I was alerted by another adult to wasp nests inside some of the equipment with tires. I was told the town of southeast facilities department was notified and would be removing them.

I love how Castle Park promotes imaginative play in both playgrounds. As my children get older it is becoming a favorite place to take them too.
