5 Things to Do in West Point

Be a Tourist in Your Own Backyard

By Liza Rodriguez Krontilik November 14, 2021

In observance of Veterans Day, I took the family to West Point, the oldest continuously occupied military post in the United States.  It has been home to the United States Army since January 1778.  Currently, it comprises approximately 16,000 acres and is located just over the Bear Mountain Bridge in Highland, NY.  There is SO much to see but here are just five things to keep you coming back.

  1. Visitors Center  Visitors Center is home to the Army West Point Gift Shop and West Point Tours offering guided tour options throughout the year.
  2. West Point Museum A collection of historically significant artifacts that pertain to the United States Military Academy and United States Army.
  3. Michie Stadium Get tickets to a football game and cheer on the Army Black Knights!
  4. Parade Schedule Looking for another spectator sport?  Check out the schedule for reviews outside football.
  5. West Point Monuments If you prefer your history outdoors, West Point offers many monuments throughout.
