Move More Month in Putnam County

April 25, 2022

With Winter finally behind us, I was excited to learn that April is Move More Month.  The objective of National Move More Month is clear and simple: get up and move!

With Family Classes at Hong Ik Martial Arts of Brewster, families can move more... TOGETHER.  No need to be in three different places all at once.  You and your children can enjoy the invigorating, health boosting and stress relieving benefits of exercise and mindfulness- together.

In celebration of Move More Month and to inspire healthy habits, Hong Ik Martial Arts of Brewster is offering 3 Free Classes for every new family or student who mentions this article, through May 15th.  Contact them to set up your classes, including Family Class.  The class schedule can be found here.

"Hong Ik Martial Artis is a haven for emotional and physical wellbeing."

Here's our challenge: as we wind up this windy April, we want to encourage each other to Move More- in April and beyond!

Find yourself an accountability partner.  Exercise and motivation go hand in hand when you have someone that you can lean on and vice versa.  It's easy to hit the snooze button or skip on yourself when you try to incorporate a new habit solo.  Instead try and enlist the help of a friend looking to achieve the same goals as you.  Better yet?  You can make fitness a family affair, like the Yu Family!

Mr. Yu and his three granddaughters enjoy their classes together at Hong Ik Martial Arts.  Taking Tae Kwon Do classes together has provided them the benefits of health and wellbeing along with weekly, treasured together time.

Hong Ik Martial Arts of Brewster shares the philosophy that movement is essential and goes further in its mission to cultivate each student's mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing- a whole person approach, one might say.

Hong Ik Martial Arts has something for everyone from age four and up.  Grandmaster Yoo even teaches a class for adults called Tai Chi-Qigong which combines meditation, stretching, non-impact martial arts, and Qi-Gong or internal energy cultivation.  Its benefits include building strength, stamina, balance and coordination while alleviating stress and improving mental acuity.

Now it will be easy to move more.  Sign up for martial arts and mindfulness classes for pee wees, children, teens, families and adults here.
