Local Love: Florrie Kaye's Tearoom

Spotlight on Putnam County's Small Businesses!

By Rachel Fenty January 13, 2025

One of my favorite things about being a Macaroni Kid publisher is getting to shout out small businesses. Small businesses play a vital role in strengthening communities by creating local jobs, fostering economic growth, and keeping money circulating within the community. They often support other local enterprises, contribute to unique community character, and build personal connections that enhance social cohesion and neighborhood pride. The past month I have been trying to hit up some spots around the Eastern Side of Putnam County.

The first spot I'd like to highlight is Florrie Kaye's Tearoom in Carmel, NY. This charming tearoom transports visitors to a cozy, vintage English tea experience with its elegant decor, delicate china, and warm, inviting atmosphere. Bringing four kids to Florrie Kaye's adds an extra layer of delight, as the staff goes above and beyond to make the experience unforgettable for young guests. Each child received a tiara or crown, adding a touch of whimsy to the outing. From tiny sandwiches and sweet treats perfectly suited for smaller appetites to the excitement of choosing from an array of fragrant teas, children are welcomed with genuine care and attention. It's a magical experience that beautifully combines sophistication and fun, creating cherished family memories.
I enjoyed the food so much that I recently returned sans kids and treated myself to my own Afternoon High tea. The French press coffee was exceptional, and the tea sandwiches were the perfect size.
