Choi's BBQ: A Grill-Your-Own Feast That Sizzles with Fun!

January 28, 2025

Taking my large family out to dinner is no small feat, but Choi's BBQ in Mahopac made it feel like a delicious adventure. From the moment we sat down at our table with the built-in grill, it was clear this wasn’t going to be your average dinner—it was an experience.

The staff was warm and welcoming, explaining the process to us (thank goodness, because we’re the kind of family that needs a tutorial before touching fire). Soon, the table was packed with beautifully marinated meats, fresh veggies, and an endless parade of sides. Watching my kids try to master the art of flipping short ribs with tongs was almost as entertaining as the food itself.

The quality of the meats was outstanding, and grilling them ourselves added a fun, interactive element. Sure, there were a few “oops, I dropped it!” moments and a couple of overcooked pieces, but that’s all part of the charm. The side dishes (banchan) were a hit too—each one a little surprise of flavor to complement the main event.

By the end, we were full, happy, and smelling faintly of delicious BBQ smoke—basically, the ultimate family bonding experience.

If you’re looking for a place that combines amazing food with a fun, communal vibe, Choi’s BBQ is the spot. Just be prepared to loosen your belt and laugh a lot—especially when someone burns the first piece of meat (it happens to the best of us).

Can’t wait to go back for round two!
