Fall is around the corner, and with it comes the return of vibrant foliage, crisp evenings, and festive traditions at Teatown Lake Reservation.
Before the ghosts and goblins arrive, September offers a variety of programs that highlight the magic of the natural world at Teatown. From a guided mushroom walk with renowned mycologist Leon Shernoff (September 6), to hands-on Monarch butterfly migration tracking (September 14), to a whimsical afternoon building fairy houses and gnome homes in the woods (September 28), there’s something for curious minds of all ages to enjoy.
Gearing up for Halloween, Teatown is inviting visitors of all ages to celebrate the season with two beloved Halloween events.
On Thursday, October 24, adults 21+ can experience Teatown at Twilight, an evening of spooky fun set against the dramatic backdrop of Teatown Lake at sunset. Guests will embark on a haunted hike, take part in guided owl pellet dissections and artmaking, and meet one of Teatown’s nocturnal ambassador animals. The night continues with live music, Halloween treats, and seasonal drinks around a campfire. Costumes are encouraged, with a prize for the best, and tickets can be purchased here.
For families, Teatown's Enchanted Forest returns on Saturday, November 1 with a guided, not-so-spooky trail adventure where children encounter whimsical characters and familiar forest friends. Costumes are optional but encouraged. Families are encouraged to arrive early, as tours depart promptly, and tickets can be purchased here.
With its colorful woodlands, 15 miles of scenic hiking trails and lively seasonal programming, Teatown is a perfect fall destination for locals and visitors to the Hudson Valley.
